Not All Halloween Contacts Are Worth It
There’s a big difference between good Halloween contact lenses and bad ones. Sadly, the cheap and nasty Halloween lenses out there can make people scared for all the wrong reasons.
Halloween contacts are all about having fun and making a little magic for your outfit and the whole occasion. That’s why quality coloured contacts are important and why it’s a big mistake to go with any Halloween lenses that are cheap and nasty.
You want to be spending your Halloween having an absolute ball not spending time wondering if you’ve done some serious damage to your eyes. That’s just an absolute balls-up.
Here are a few things to look out for when you are choosing Halloween contact lenses.
Do some leg work before you run out of time
First up, make sure you plan ahead for your Halloween look. If you leave it to the last minute, you risk making yourself a bit of a joke. Dressing up as Harley Quinn can be a great character BUT you need to put a bit more effort into it than pig tails and carrying a baseball bat Ryan.
You just looked like a weird dude from that 80’s flick Field of Dreams. You were more like ‘In Your Dreams’ pal.
The things to think of before you get dressed for Halloween is have a proper plan of what you want to go as.
Then you can put the whole shebang together bit by bit until you’ve ticked off the full list of what you need to make your costume a winner.
That’s when you need to remember to include Halloween contacts if you want to go all out with your Halloween outfit.
The best thing about Halloween coloured lenses
The special ingredient to a great, and we mean really fabulous Halloween costume is using a pair of quality Halloween contact lenses.
This is where something that looks like a 6 out of 10 will jump up to an 8 out of 10. Now, you could be forgiven for thinking that is a ridiculous exaggeration, but you really have to see the effect for yourself. Better yet, see it on yourself.
That vampire, ghost, weirdo, witch or whatever outfit looks waaaaay scarier and realistic with a set of the right Halloween contacts working for it.
Remember that you can go as far ‘out there’ as you want but just remember to go for quality Halloween lenses and not so dodgy pair from heaven knows where.
The worst thing about bad Halloween contacts
Now comes the sad part about some Halloween lenses.
This is where the el-cheapy crappy contacts sometimes give coloured contact lenses a really, superbad reputation.
You know (or at least, you should know) the cheap and nasty version of Halloween lenses we are talking about here.
They have no quality check or certification. If there is one, it’s from some place that you have no idea what quality testing they do. It could be anything from checking that there are two lenses in the pack and that gets a quality control tick! Seriously.
You may not even know where the lenses are made. It just says product of (insert country name) and that doesn’t mean that they were made there. It could mean that’s where they are packed.
Then there’s the supplier.
Oh boy, no joy. The company has a website and it is some dodgy operation with a fancy and fun looking design but it’s really a shifty mob working out of a shed or garage who couldn’t give a flying duck about you and your order.
They’ll happily take your money and then send you:
- A – a seriously shoddy pair of lenses
- B – send you an email that the order is still on its way
- C – send you around in a circle when you try and contact them about your missing order
- D – leave you with nothing but a pretty hopeless chance of getting your money back
The thing about getting the A version of the shoddy lenses is that they are often not suitable to wear for long or if at all AND you risk giving yourself an eye infection, scratch the lens of your eye or have a few days of horrible soreness where you can’t see too well.
Do yourself a favour and check that the lenses are properly certified quality and the supplier is legit.
